The trap in the ground, and the trumpet in the sky

richter-scale“Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?” The King asked by way of reply to my question about the shaking New Zealand has been experiencing.

I keep an eye on signs.  I discern things.  That’s my gift.  Not that I always get it right.  I check what I see with the Bible. And I ask God questions.

“Are the earthquakes we’ve been experiencing since 2011 about sin?” I asked doubtfully.

The day before the Kaikoura earthquake Brian Tamaki, the self-appointed bishop of Destiny Church said, “the earth convulses under the weight of certain human sin … Massive earthquakes have already hit in Christchurch and you could have just about predicted that one.”  The next day he was a  prophet in big trouble with the gay community who didn’t like what he said.

Well, he detected something, but he was off target.  We’ve always had sin.  It’s a worldwide problem.  All that kind of talk does is make God look like a smiter who likes to thump people!  Not helpful.

God walks a fine line between staying his hand and meting out justice.  I wish people would stop seeing Him as ‘the almighty smiter.’ He is a just God.  When God’s people refuse to heed His Word, He brings a just and curative discipline upon them.  In this instance, I see His mercy and His appeal for us to see the signs and hear what He has to say.

“No.  It’s the land.  I am warning about the land …” the Lord said, tracing the number two into our shaken country.  Two huge earthquakes happened simultaneously, involving two different plates. Two earthquakes, at two minutes after midnight, that lasted two minutes, with two people dead, affecting two islands (the North and South Island), and to top if off the land underwent a two metre shift south of Marlborough.

The scientists said they’d never seen anything like it.

Also, rare events surrounded that quake.  There was a super moon (not that we saw it) and eerie strange flashing lights across the horizon in Wellington while the earth shook.  It made me think of lights flashing at a railway crossing.  And After the earthquake, a huge storm struck the Wellington area.  It was seriously weird.

I’d taken God’s warning to be about the land in New Zealand.

“It’s APEC, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation trade agreement. That’s what it is!!” I thought, thinking of the APEC meeting the globalists were all going to later that week.  If you read my previous blog post from November, you will see why I was focusing on that. Over the years APEC economic development has worsened poverty and inequality while strengthening corporate power.

“But what’s with the pattern of ‘two’s’ in this latest earthquake?” I asked.

Lion roaring, illustration for book about Aslan“Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?” God asked before showing me a lion roaring unseen from a thicket, an eagle swooping, a trap springing from the ground, and a trumpet sounding in a city.

“Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?”
Does a lion roar in the thicket when it has no prey?
Does it growl in its den when it has caught nothing?
Does a bird swoop down to a trap on the ground when no bait is there?
Does a trap spring up from the ground if it has not caught anything?
When a trumpet sounds in a city, do not the people tremble?
When disaster comes to a city, has not the LORD caused it?
Surely the Sovereign LORD does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.”
Amos 3:3-7

I can see what TWO meant now.  US Secretary of State John Kerry and NZ prime minister John Key were meeting about Israel before Donald Trump took power. “The land” God referred to wasn’t just our land, it was the covenant land of Israel … and the TWO State Solution.  NZ put forward a motion in the UN Security Council on the 23rd of December 2016. It criticized Israel’s settlement in East Jerusalem, commonly referred to as the West Bank.  That meeting led to the Paris peace conference three weeks later on the 15th January 2017.

If I’d been serving up coffee at that meeting, I would have been asking “would you like a cup of trembling with that?”

I am going to show you the bird swooping to the ground, explain the trap, and you will hear a trumpet sounding in a city.

The trap

israelThe peace talks are a trap.  Fatah (Palestinian West Bank) and Hamas (Gaza) are likely to use whatever land they can gain as a base from which they and their friends plan to topple the Jewish state and evict all Jews from the land.  If I am wrong, why did Hamas launch missiles from Gaza the minute Israel surrendered that land for peace?

This Two State Solution was hammered out in Paris without agreement from Israel. It was shameful.

“Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?”

For the last two years, New Zealand has been complicit in this. It started in 2014 when NZ bid for a seat on the UN Security Council.

Does a bird swoop down to a trap on the ground when no bait is there? Amos 3:5

The bird swoop

During an earthquake in the same year, a giant eagle commemorating the Hobbit movie swung wildly from side to side in Wellington Airport’s international terminal before crashing to the ground. The eagle ‘crash’ landed on Wellington anniversary day.  The quake was centered 138 km away in Eketahuna, a small town occasionally used in conversation to represent “the real New Zealand.”

Fortunately, the one-tonne eagle didn’t land on anyone.  If the bird swooping down was a warning from Amos, where was the bait?

The bait

In 2015 NZ attempted to restart Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations by using our position on the UN Security Council, causing Israel to send a blunt message to us: Don’t try to renew peace talks.

The trumpet

When a trumpet sounds in a city, do not the people tremble?

On September 30th, 2016 more than 70 world leaders gathered in Israel for the funeral of Shimon Peres. The following day witnesses heard strange shofar (ram’s horn trumpet) sounds coming from the sky in Jerusalem and observed the appearance of a perfect circle of clouds. See the videos below.

The next day, October 2nd, Rosh Hashanah, called the  Feast of Trumpets began.  In contrast, here’s a video of the Shofar being blown at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem during the Feast of Trumpets on October 3rd, 2016.  As you can hear, the sky shofar is a lot louder.

Disaster

A month later, on the 9th of November 2016, US Secretary of State John Kerry quietly slipped into New Zealand. We were surprised at the timing because it was election day in the US.

Then he flew from Christchurch to Antarctica.  Kerry arrived back in NZ three days later for a two-day stopover in order to meet Prime Minister John Key and Foreign Minister Murray McCully.  They met on the 13th November to discuss “particularly matters currently before the United Nations Security Council, including the Syria crisis.”  What got decided in that meeting?

That scheming had barely ended when at two minutes after midnight on the 14th November 2016 NZ was struck by the massive 7.8 earthquakes. This time there was damage in Wellington, and Kaikoura was devastated.

When disaster comes to a city, has not the LORD caused it?  Amos 3:6

newzealand-quake

NZ shaking

Three years after our one-tonne eagle swooped to the ground, and two months after the latest earthquake, more than seventy nations met in Paris regarding dividing the land on the 15th January 2017.

Hours before the council met to discuss the resolution, Israeli media reported that an anonymous Israeli official had accused Obama and US Secretary of State John Kerry of scheming behind Israel’s back to push a resolution through condemning Israel’s settlement in East Jerusalem, commonly referred to as the West Bank.

Now Israel fears a fresh UN initiative after the Paris conference.  I am not surprised.

The rock

There is a proverb that says If you set a trap for others, you will get caught in it yourself. If you roll a boulder down on others, it will crush you instead.” Proverbs 26:27

boulder

The boulder reminds me of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream of the final empire in Daniel 2 when a rock not cut by human hands struck the final empire on its feet, breaking it all to pieces and blowing it away like chaff before the wind.

“In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever. This is the meaning of the vision of the rock cut out of a mountain, but not by human hands—a rock that broke the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver and the gold to pieces.  Daniel 2:45

God also said I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves.” Zechariah 12:2

Here’s to the Kingdom to come, the Kingdom that will never be destroyed, the Kingdom of God.  May His Kingdom come, may His will be done.

There is a battle going on right now in the heavenly realms, and the signs are manifesting here on earth.

Jesus said, “upon this rock, I will build my church, and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it.”  Matthew 16:16.

As Christians and members of the church built and headed up by Jesus Christ, will we join the struggle and stand with Israel?  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  Ephesians 6:12.

We need to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, as commanded in Psalm 122.

psalm-122

2numbertwoincircleFurther to the word I’d been given from Amos 3“Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?” the Lord gave me a second word, from Psalm 2.

It’s God scoffing at the nations who conspire against Him.  They’ve earned His derision.

Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together
against the Lord and against his anointed, saying,
“Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles …”
Psalm 2:1-3.

I recommend reading the rest of it in Psalm 2.

The King he will install on Zion, his holy mountain is His Son.

The early church wanted to know the times and dates for when Jesus would return.  This term “peace and security” was given as a sign before the Lord’s sudden return;  “Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. The fading flower …

Shortly after my last post where I asked “Who wants to live forever?” my mother passed away.  For most of her life she grappled with the highs and lows of bipolar disease.  She’s free of her demons at last.

My memories of her when she was bipolar aren’t good, but in between times she had a happy, sunny nature.  And that’s how I want to remember her.

I’ve made a youtube video of the powerpoint I prepared for the funeral, showing scenes from her life, which I and my family feature in.

It’s here if you want to see it.  The music is “Who am I?” by Casting Crowns.

It brings to mind the scripture that God has compassion on us mortals – who are here today and gone tomorrow, just like the grass and flowers.  That’s why Jesus wept at the grief of Lazarus’s sisters.

As a father has compassion on his children
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;
for he knows how we are formed,
he remembers that we are dust.
The life of mortals is like grass,
they flourish like a flower of the field;
the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more.
But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him,
and his righteousness with their children’s children—with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts.
The Lord has established his throne in heaven,
and his kingdom rules over all.”  Psalm 103:13-19

I wasn’t sure of how things were with her and God.  He gave me a story to tell her on the last occasion she had a serious heart attack, which I wrote here.

superscript_seven_u2077_icon_256x256God gave us a sign that she’d gone to be with him.  Seven is the number of rest, and she’d entered his rest, dying at 7pm on the 7th day of the 7th month, aged 77.

He explains about that rest in Hebrews 4;

There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest … Hebrews 4:9

I recommend reading the whole passage from Hebrews 4:1-11.

Hebrews 4:1-10 The Promise of Rest

So now I know what can go on my mother’s headstone; “At rest.”  Two simple words that say so much.

Days of awe

LeoPeople don’t need to be believers to see that the Jewish festivals and calendar days instituted thousands of years ago, are now aligning with the signs in the sky, and major world events.

In my last post I said I’d explain how God is speaking to those who haven’t read the Bible.  One of the ways he is speaking is by using signs in the heavens.  I’m not talking about Astrology. But if I was, I’d point out that Astrology is made up of these two words: Astro meaning “Star” and Logos meaning Jesus Christ, the Word, the Logos of God.

The devil has covered the witness of the stars with occult graffiti, but he can’t forever.  The truth is right there in our night sky, for all to see.  God is using signs in the sun, moon and stars for warning, prophecy and to show that He is in control.

Conjuction of Venus and Jupiter, 1st July 2015

Conjuction of Venus and Jupiter, 1st July 2015

For instance, last month we had the convergence of Jupiter and Venus, near the bright star Regulus, the star of the King, in the constellation of Leo.  The conjunction was right in front of the Lion’s mouth.

This is what the stars in Leo mean (from Bullinger’s ‘Witness of the Stars’);

The brightest star marks the heart of the Lion. Its ancient name is Regulus, which means treading under foot.
The next star, also of the 1st magnitude (in the tip of the tail), is named Denebola, the Judge or Lord who cometh.
The star (in the mane) is called Al Giebha (Arabic), the exaltation.
The star (on the hinder part of the back) is called Zosma, shining forth.

Can you hear the lion roar?

There is a convergence of events happening in September – involving the number 70, the U.N., the Pope, ‘climate chaos’ and a whole lot of other ungodly factors. The year ending on 13th September 2015, is a shmita year and the last year before the Jewish year of Jubilee, also coinciding with the Tetrad of blood moons.  The ‘shmita’ is the 7th year and in Hebrew, it literally means “release”.

First though I’ll start with God’s calendar.  Rosh Hashanah, the Feast of Trumpets begins at sundown on the 13th September.  It’s the Jewish New Year, and the first of the High Holy Days or “Days of Awe”.  It’s also the 70th Jubilee.

The year of Jubilee happens every 50 years, after 7 lots of 7 Sabbaths (the shmita).  God declared it as a time for debt to be released, the land to have a rest, and for property to return to its original owners.  On the last day of the sixth year, the people of Israel were instructed to perform a releasing of debts (Deuteronomy 15).

This does not just involve Israel.  It’s a pattern God has given the world to follow.  The reason the world is in the state it’s in is that debt does not get released.  The last sabbath of seven years was 2008 – and God spoke to the world by having the stock market crash on September 29, 2008 when the DOW fell 777 points.

For Luciferians, Anno Lucis, the year of light begins and 2015 has been declared as the UN International Year of Light.  It’s also the UN’s 70th Anniversary and the opening of 70th session of the UN general assembly.  CERN will be giving a presentation about High Luminosity.  Also keep an eye on a project they’re doing called “Project AWAKE”.  I don’t understand the physics they’re doing, but I am able to discern occult names and connections.  CERN will be running at full power over this period.

While God is orchestrating signs, Satan is orchestrating events.

The United Nations general assembly climate summit starts on September 23, 2015.  How timely, because in May 2014 the French Foreign Minister warned we had 500 days before “climate chaos”.  What did he mean by that?  Is it going to be something that Cern’s going to do?

The 500 days expires on 24th September, the day the Pope addresses the U.S. congress on his visit to the USA from the 17th to 28th September.  The next day the Pope will address the U.N.   This is the day when the U.N. launches its ‘sustainable development’ agenda for whole world.  How convenient and coincidental is that?

Watch out for this Pope.  How can he reconcile the Vatican’s policy of no birth control with ‘sustainable development’? By the way, ‘sustainable development’ sounds altruistic, but it’s actually a communist buzzword.

Bad Moon Arising

full-moon-over-dc

I see the bad moon arising, I see trouble on the way, I see earthquakes and lightnin’, I see bad times today.

The end of the Pope’s visit and the last Tetrad moon occur on the 28th September.  I wonder if he’ll be flying back to Rome with a red blood moon in his window.

The song “Bad Moon Rising” comes to mind.

The song came out in 1969.  It was inspired by a story about a seven year covenant.  The lyrics are quite prophetic.  This is another way that God speaks; through the prophets of the world.  Fogerty from Creedance Clear Water Revival reportedly wrote that song after watching a film called The Devil and Daniel Webster”.  The film was set in 1840 New Hampshire, where poor, downtrodden farmer Jabez Stone sells his soul to “Mr. Scratch” in return for seven years of luck and prosperity.  ‘Jabez’ means sorrow or trouble.

There’s another song by Greenday called “Wake me up when September ends“.

September is not a time to be asleep.  Actually I think most of us are up and smelling the coffee, or is it sulphur?  It’s something.  I’m not a prophet, but I am a blood hound when it comes to discernment.  We need to have our own project ‘AWAKE’ so we can pray and warn people.  We don’t belong to the night.

We are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.
So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.
For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.  1 Thessalonians 5:5-7

I await the Lord’s coming but I worry about the people who don’t know him yet.  Anyway I’d love to hear your thoughts and comments.

God bless.

The year of light?

S.B. Sunrise

Sunrise from the beach at the end of my street.

I go for an early morning walk during the week, along the beach at the end of my street.  It’s getting dark now, but the sunrises are so beautiful.  Did you know that NZ is the first country in the world to get the sunrise?  Here’s a photo from last month at dawn.

While walking I told the Lord I wanted to blog something about Him before Easter, and I asked what He wanted.  I felt He wanted me to blog about Him being “the Light of the World.”  I stopped at the end of the path and stretched out my arms to the sunrise, agreeing that He was indeed the light of the world.

I prayed the word from Isaiah 50:4; “Sovereign LORD, give me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. Waken me morning by morning, waken my ear to listen like one being taught.”

Have you heard that ‘listen’ and ‘silent’ have the same letters?  I listened in the silence.  It was in this beautiful spot that I got something jarring.  The thought came to check out what was happening with the Hadron Collider!  It was a strange thought.  I am not interested in physics, except for the stuff I had to learn for my industry qualifications in Information Technology.  I know they found “the God particle”, but so what?  I already know that all things hold together because of Jesus;

He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.  Colossians 1:17.

The apostle Paul explained to the pagans at Athens that “in him we live and move and have our being”;

 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands.  And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.  From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands.  God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us.  ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’  As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.””

Anyway, after doing some research on Cern, I found I’d dismissed the discovery of the God particle too lightly …

1-Hadron-Collider-StargateCERN – blinded by the light.

They’ve just reopened the Hadron Collider after two years.  It’s going to restart today, 22 March 2015 – despite warnings from top scientists such as Stephen Hawking and Neil de Grasse Tyson.

The arrogance of the physicists is breathtaking.  This level of science is the definition of atheism – for some of the physicists like the inventor of the Higgs Boson.  For others, this is where the New Age meets Physics.  Cern is a constituent of Cernunnos—the Celtic horned god of the underworld.  They have a statue of Shiva the destroyer outside the Hadron Collider.  The name for the destroyer in Hebrew is Abaddon and in Greek it is Apollyon.  See Revelation 9, the fifth trumpet – where a fallen star is given the key to the shaft of the Abyss and demonic beings belonging to the destroyer come out.

Cern is located near the French village of Saint-Genis-Pouilly.  In Roman times it was called Apolliacum.  The town and temple were dedicated to Apollyon.

What a rabbit hole.   If you want to read more, there are many fine blogs that have done the job that the news media hasn’t.  Here’s one with a few YouTube links: https://patinthehat00.wordpress.com/tag/cern/

I don’t want to focus on the devil – and I’m not saying this is the fifth trumpet.  The Tribulation hasn’t started yet, but something’s up.  This may be the technology that the destroyer uses.  If I do have to mention the destroyer, I want it to be in relation to Jesus stamping his authority all over him.  But we need to pay attention, because what they discover at Cern will have as much of an impact as the World Wide Web, which was also created at Cern.

I have found out that the UN have declared this year “the Year of Light”.  So it’s a good time to be blogging about Jesus, who called himself “The Light of the World.”  He will be the subject of my next blog post.

The gift of the Shepherd

The Lord is My ShepherdTired and drained, she stood by the fire inside in her father’s house, trying to get warm, and trying not to look at her father’s empty chair.  The shepherd’s staff leaned in the corner near the chair, unnoticed.

In the land of the Kingdom, she wearily trudged through the Valley of the Shadow of death, stopping at her father’s house for the sad task of sorting out his belongings.  “One of you girls can take that,” Sally his widow said, suddenly noticing the staff. She recognised it.

“That’s my old crook” she remarked.

“It was down in his workshop,” Sally said, “He’d made it down there the other day, but he was too weak to walk back up the path.  I found him leaning on it, unable to move. It’s yours, please take it.”

Her sisters gave her his car.  As she got the engine running, a thin stream of water shot out of the radiator, landing in an arc on the concrete in front of her sisters.  Sighing, she cracked an egg into the radiator water, praying it would hold until she could get the leak fixed.

Obviously her father had been too ill to maintain the car.  It still had all his stuff in it, the paperback he’d been reading was face down on the seat where he’d left it. Putting the crook in the back of the car with the rest of his stuff, she concentrated on getting the car back to Wanganui.

At home she put the crook in the corner of the room and cried.  It was more than she could cope with. The endless winter days felt like a long, dark valley where she did not laugh and she did not smile.  Again the humble crook stayed unnoticed until finally, the God of all comfort came.

Her tear filled eyes were drawn to the staff.  She noticed it had been varnished.  Mindful of the care taken in its preservation, she asked “Does this crook have some significance?”

The Shepherd replied, giving her some dates, and a number.  “From the day you left Napier on the 4th day of August 1971, to the day of your Father’s death on the 4th day of August 1994, 23 years were written in my book. When your father leaned on the staff, I was there.  Now the time for your father has ended, and you will go on. Read Psalm 23. It will be familiar to you.”

   The Lord is my shepherd,
   I shall not want;
He makes me lie down in green pastures.

   He leads me beside still waters;
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness

   for His name’s sake.

  Even though I walk through the valley
   of the shadow of death,
   I will fear no evil;
   for you are with me;
   Your rod and Your staff comfort me.  Psalm 23

Carried back to the place where she had first encountered the Shepherd in the valley, she smiled at him through her tears.  She could see the hills, the sheep, the creek and the quiet pool by the willows. “This is the place where we first met” she said, wiping away her tears as her eyes lingered on the crook, the shepherd’s staff.

Taking the staff in her hands she ran her fingers over the smooth wood, remembering.  The staff had come back to her as a great gift from the Shepherd, and it comforted her.   She wiped her eyes and said “It’s true. Your rod and your staff … comfort me.”

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted,” the Lord replied. (Matthew 5:4)

The ring, and the unnamed servant

doves-eyesIn a way the courtship I wrote about in my story The Kingdom reminds me of the Bible story in Genesis 24 of Isaac and Rebecca.  Isaac’s bride had to come from his father’s country.  The father sent an unnamed servant to go and get her.  The unnamed servant met Rebecca at a well.  He watched her closely.  When she fulfilled the signs the servant looked for, he gave her a ring and two bracelets.   Rebecca went on a journey with the servant to find Isaac, and she first clapped eyes on Isaac when he had gone out into the Prayer in desertdesert in the evening to meditate.  The servant announced to her who Isaac was, and Rebecca veiled herself.  The servant told Isaac all he had done.  Rebecca became the wife of Isaac, and he loved her.

I could have written those scenes in the Kingdom with that in mind, but I had no way of knowing about “Isaac” when I wrote about the desert and the wells.  I just went where God led.

The unnamed servant was sent with gifts and jewellery to fetch the bride.  He put the ring on the bride.  The unnamed servant is a type for the Holy Spirit.

My rings both have interesting stories behind them.  God supplied the wedding ring out of thin air, and it came first.  Then after I met “Isaac”, a beautiful and very valuable engagement ring came from “Isaac’s” Grandmother in Florida, over 8,000 miles away.

Hosea 2-19In the story I write called “The Kingdom”, the King told me “Isaac” was going to be my husband.  The story about the gold wedding ring that just appeared one day out of nowhere is in Chapter 49 The band of gold

When I met “Isaac”, he told me his mother’s maiden name was “Isaacson”.  By then I knew he was the husband, but it was still an amazing confirmation.

As soon as “Isaac” knew I was the one, he wanted to get a ring on my finger right away.  The only trouble was he’d just started a business and had no money.  When I pointed out the obvious, he just believed God would help him out with the ring.  And God did.  His mother told him she had a ring just waiting for him.  It was a huge rock!  It’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever been given.

ChuppahEven though the Church was born in Jerusalem, it is separated from Israel – to our loss.  In these troubled and interesting times Messianic Jews (Jews who have accepted Jesus as their Messiah) are bringing back a cultural context to the Bible that was lost to the Church for over a millennia.

For instance, one night the couple who led my home-group decided to present the teaching of a Messianic Jew on the meaning and symbolism of a Jewish wedding ceremony.  This was for general application, to show parallels between a Jewish wedding and the Church’s relationship to Christ, outlined here:
http://www.gotquestions.org/Jewish-wedding-traditions.html

The teaching had ties to Jeremiah 31:21, where I had been given a word from Jeremiah about going full circle.  For me it was a Rhema word, that is a word for personal application.  It filled in a lot of blanks for me, as well as confirming the rhema word.

The confirmation on this occasion really amused me, because it was so Jewish. Even though Jesus belongs to us all, it reminded me that He is a Jew.  Jesus talked about the Bridegroom in some of His parables.

Chuppah 1In Jewish wedding tradition, the bride may circle the groom 3 or 7 times under the Chuppah.  This is generally an Ashkenazi practice.  The Ashkenazi Jew comes from Europe.

The Chuppah is a canopy under which a Jewish couple stand during their wedding ceremony.  It consists of a cloth or sheet stretched or supported over four poles.  A traditional chuppah recommends that there be open sky exactly above the chuppah.  So the Ashkenazi custom is to have the Chuppah ceremony outside under the stars, as a sign of the blessing given by God to the patriarch Abraham, that his children shall be “as the stars of the heavens” (Genesis 15:5).

Why does the bride circle the groom?

I love this explanation;

The bride, by circling the groom, expresses her awesome power over him.

The seven circuits are reminiscent of the biblical story of Joshua leading the Israelites into the Promised Land. They came to Jericho, a city known as the key to the land – if they could conquer it, the land would be theirs. But Jericho was protected by a big wall. There seemed to be no way in.

Similarly, every man has a wall built around his heart. Men are taught to hide their feelings, to create an impression of impenetrability, to make it seem that they have it all figured out. Men create elaborate defenses to hide any sign of weakness or vulnerability, and fiercely guard their deepest secret – that inside they are sensitive and meek, simple and soft.

But a wise woman can pierce this defensive wall. If she surrounds her husband with the protective aura of her love, if she envelops him with affection, and if she makes him feel that he is the anchor, the center, the focal point of her life, then he can feel safe and comfortable. When that happens, the walls protecting his heart come tumbling down. Then she has conquered him – all of him.

In the next chapter of The Kingdom I had met the man the Lord had promised me, after going around him in a big circle.  This was the third time our paths had crossed.  The trouble was, he didn’t exactly welcome me into his life.  There was a big wall around his heart.  I found him cold and stand-offish, and didn’t know if I liked him all that much.  It wasn’t an auspicious start for us.
