It didn’t take long for the world’s first murder to happen, and even more astonishing was that Cain was nonchalant about it.
Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” He said, “I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?” And He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground.
Genesis 4:9-10
The result was Cain being a marked man, otherwise anyone who found him would have slayed him.
Cain’s punishment was to depart the area and be a a fugitive and a vagabond on the earth. But blood wasn’t demanded of Cain.
If anyone found and killed Cain, his blood would be avenged sevenfold.
Murder continued. Cain’s great-great grandson Lamech boasted to his wives that he killed a man for wounding him, and if Cain should be avenged seven-fold, then he seventy-sevenfold.
Jesus was asked by Peter how many times he should forgive, and look at his answer;
Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.
Matthew 18:21-22
So the direct opposite was preached by Jesus. It is his to avenge and his to repay when He comes to judge.
Paul wrote in that Jesus’ blood speaks a better word than that of Abel. Abel’s blood had a voice, so so does Jesus. Abel’s blood had the first word, Jesus’ blood speaks the final word.
Abel’s blood spoke from the earth, Jesus’ blood speaks from the City that is in Heaven.
But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.
Hebrews 12:22-24

AB-solute proof, the blood that speaks
In the New Testament, the apostle Paul instructs, “Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,’ says the Lord” (Romans 12:17–19).
