The rider on the white horse

Horse-homage

WWI soldiers shown paying homage to their equine partners

In NZ we’ve just observed the centenary of the battle of Gallipoli, where ANZAC troops fought for the British empire.  On Anzac Day I watched the movie “War horse”.   It bought a lump to my throat and made me think of our own horses.  Of the thousands of horses shipped off to war from New Zealand, only a horse called Bess came back.

There were lots of tears by those men over their horses, and I know the Lord understands.

When Jesus returns as the King, he will be on his own warhorse, at the head of his army.

Perhaps God had the war horses in mind when he inspired Job to write about the horse in the earliest book of the Bible;

“Do you give the horse its strength or clothe its neck with a flowing mane?
Do you make it leap like a locust, striking terror with its proud snorting?
It paws fiercely, rejoicing in its strength, and charges into the fray.
It laughs at fear, afraid of nothing; it does not shy away from the sword.
The quiver rattles against its side, along with the flashing spear and lance.
In frenzied excitement it eats up the ground; it cannot stand still when the trumpet sounds.
At the blast of the trumpet it snorts, ‘Aha!’ It catches the scent of battle from afar, the shout of commanders and the battle cry.
Job 39:19-25

Holy to the Lord

There will be horses in the Millennial Kingdom.   You will hear the sound of their bells as they trot, and on their bells will be the inscription “holy to the Lord.” Holy means “whole”.  When Jesus reigns in his kingdom, all will be made whole.

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”  Revelation 21:3-4

But be aware that before the second coming, we will be hearing the hoof beats of the first horseman of the Apocalypse – the rider on the white horse who is given a bow and told to conquer.  Just remember – that’s not Jesus. It will be Apollyon (the destroyer) imitating him.

So while the world is going ooooh and aaaahh marvelling over the fake Messiah, remember the warning Jesus gave us in Matthew 24:5;
Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my Name, saying, I am Christ, and shall deceive many. At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you ahead of time.
“So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.  – Matthew 24:1-26

Jesus will come like a thief in the night for the Church; an event as sudden as lightning.  After that He will return at the end of Tribulation on his white horse, for all to see.

I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war.  His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself.  He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean.  Revelation 19:11-13

The ultimate reveal

This is going to wander a bit, but I hope you’ll bear with me.  We’re going to go from clothes, to Chinese characters, to Mount Hermon, and back to clothes.  I promise you it will be interesting.  It’s based on the theme of “light”.

Lately I’ve had to take more of an interest in fashion.  My daughter made me an appointment with a style consultant at the shopping mall where she works.  It was to help me sort out which outfits and colour combinations suit me best.

I’d rather wear clothes that suit me than bow to the current fashion fad, and I hate uncomfortable womens shoes. I grew up on a farm wearing jeans and gumboots.  Now I work in a computer workshop, wearing pants and a monogrammed polo shirt. My daughter on the other hand, works in retail fashion, and has no trouble choosing clothes and shoes.  She was inspired to help women with clothes because of the difficulty I have experienced getting help and advice when shopping.

I was anxious about the consultation beforehand, but I needn’t have worried.  The stylist was really helpful and didn’t judge me.  She was amused at the contrast between me and my girly-girl, fashion-ista daughter.
Me at work - 2014
Here’s a photo of us at work.  My daughter worked for us for three weeks while between jNic at YITSobs.  Here she is with her nail kit, filing her nails at reception!  It was so cliche, but she didn’t care.
While waiting for the stylist I thought about dreams where you are unclothed, or not dressed right.  Have you ever had dreams where you are walking in a public place naked or in pyjamas?  I’ve heard it’s quite common.

It makes me think about Adam and Eve, and their wardrobe malfunction.  Imagine it.  Here’s God walking through the garden, and they’re naked.  Eeek.  The serpent took everything, even the clothes.

chinese character for naked

The Chinese character for naked. Notice the word ‘fruit’ in the character.

Do you think the story is a myth?
Here’s some anthropological proof that the story is based on fact.  Did you know the ancient Chinese script contains the story of Genesis, long before the Bible came to be written?  Here we see the ancient character for fruit.  How on earth did the ancient Chinese associate the word ‘naked’ with fruit?
Here’s a link to a site that shows how the Chinese characters tie in with Genesis:
The Chinese character for LIGHT has MAN in it.  I wonder if Adam and Eve’s garments were garments of light.I know the Lord has a garment of light.  Psalm 104 speaks of his garment, and dimensions.  It is written that the LORD wraps himself in light as with a garment; he stretches out the heavens like a tent.  Psalm 104:2.
Jesus let three of the disciples see him clothed in light.
Here it is in Matthew 17:Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light.”
Mount_Hermon

Mount Hermon dwarfs the remains of the ancient city of Caesarea Philippi (located at the bottom center of the photo).

I believe the mountain the Lord took them up was Mount Hermon.  The reason I think so is because in the previous chapter of the Bible, Matthew 16, Jesus was at Caesarea Philippi, a town at the foot of Mount Hermon.

Caesarea Philippi was the place where Jesus stamped his authority over the gates of Hell after Peter confessed Him as the Messiah.  I wrote about this in my blog post: True confessions at the Gates of Hell.

It’s interesting that the “Hermon Hotel”,  the highest permanently manned UN position in the world, sits on top of Mount Hermon in the buffer zone between Syria and Israel.

In the Book of Enoch, Mount Hermon is the place where the Watcher class of fallen angels descended to Earth. They swore upon the mountain that they would take wives among the daughters of men (Enoch 6).

The mountain or summit, referred to as Saphon in Ugaritic texts, is the place where the palace of Baal is located in a myth about Attar. Source: Wikipedia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Hermon.  Attar is also known as Ashtar and Ishtar; god of the Morning Star.

So here we have Jesus, the Light of the World, stamping his authority all over Attar, Ashtar or Ishtar as well.  It kind-of puts Jesus’s promise about the Morning Star being given to those who have not learned Satan’s so called deep secrets in a new light, don’t you think?  (Revelation 2:28, Church at Thyatira)

I believe Moses and Elijah may be the two witnesses of Revelation 11, but that’s the subject for another post.  I believe it because of what these two can do.  Elijah was able to bring down fire and cause the rain to stop for 3½ years; and Moses was able to turn water into blood and bring several other plagues upon Egypt. And guess what the two witnesses do?  They will also be able to bring down fire, stop the rain, and cause various plagues for 3½ years,  (Revelation 11:5,6).

Anyway, to get back to clothes – they’re clothed in sackcloth for their earthly mission.  Sackcloth represents debasement, mourning, and/or repentance.

Do you have any white clothes?  Jesus talked about being dressed in white when he wrote to the Church at Sardis in Revelation 3.  This Church has a reputation for being alive, but it’s sound asleep.  Jesus said if it doesn’t wake up, he’ll come upon it like a thief, and they will not know at what time he comes.
(This is not a time to be caught napping.  Jesus expects us to be dressed for work and have our lamps burning.  (Luke 12:35))
Yet he said there are some in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes. They will walk with him dressed in white, for they are worthy. The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white.

How bright will the white be?

 Whiter than white

Signs in the Heavens – March 2015

I am the light, Image of Christ appears in the aurora borealis above Iceland 19-3-15

‘I am the light’: Image of Christ the Redeemer appears in the aurora borealis above Iceland.

We are truly in the times of the signs, and I promised I’d blog about them.  First of all, we had Northern and Southern lights, on the 18th March 2015 from the magnetic storms hitting the planet.  Here in NZ, they went all the way up to Auckland.  Did you see them where you were?

When Jesus was asked about the signs in the end times, He said; “There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars.” Luke 21:25.

Here is a wonderful sign that appeared from the Northern lights >

source: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2911437/I-light-Image-Christ-Redeemer-appears-aurora-borealis-Iceland.html?printingPage=true

It confirmed something I’d prayed about earlier in the week.  I asked the Lord what He wanted me to blog about in the lead up to Easter.  “I AM the Light of the World” is the answer that came to me.  I always wait for a confirmation, and I think the picture of Him appearing in the aurora borealis is a wonderful sign.

Solar Eclipse 20-3-2015

Solar Eclipse 20-3-2015

Tomorrow there will be a solar eclipse on Friday the 19/3/15 in the northern hemisphere.  This is a solar occurrence that has never happened before in human history.  It coincides with the day of the Spring (and Autumn) Equinox and the beginning of the Hebrew month of Nissan, the first month in the Biblical calendar year.  “The concurrence and rarity of this natural event, together with the times in which we live, indicates the finger of God,” Gidon Ariel, an Israeli Orthodox Jew told Breaking Israel News.  Source: http://www.breakingchristiannews.com/articles/display_art.html?ID=15598

The 3rd blood moon of the Tetrad occurs next month on April 4th.  A Tetrad is where there are four lunar eclipses in a row.

Here’s a handy link if you want to track the eclipses: http://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/in/uk/london?iso=20150320

I’m down in the southern hemisphere so I won’t see tomorrow’s eclipse, but I’d be interested in hearing about what you see in the northern part of the world.

The Keys of the Kingdom – true confessions at the Gates of Hell

Key to the KingdomI found a key with ‘J’ on it in my sleeveless vest pocket.  I don’t remember acquiring it.  It must have been after I helped set up the sound equipment for my church, but I can’t find the owner of the key.  It’s funny because my initial is ‘J’ and I’d been reading in the Bible about the Keys of the Kingdom.

Where do these keys fit and what doors do they unlock?  What did Jesus mean when he said He would give the keys to Peter, the apostle who declared he was the Messiah?  The promise of authority came with a question; Who do you say I AM?”  Jesus asked.  Simon Peter answered “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hell will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16).

Upon this rockAs servants, binding and loosing depends on the master’s will; as Jesus taught us to ask “Your Kingdom come, your will be done.”

Jesus still lends His authority to His true ministers today to do the same work. Sadly, many falsely claim this authority and misuse it.

The Roman Catholic Church maintains that the Keys of the Kingdom were handed to the Popes through Peter.  The keys are on the Vatican coat of arms.  That’s easily refuted.  The early church began in Jerusalem, not Rome.  It never had a Pope – from the early 3rd century the title was a general term used to refer to all bishops.  The title “Pontiff” belonged to Rome and the old roman gods.

This argument is made for one purpose: to give credibility to the idea that Peter was the first Pope in Rome.

Let’s give the scripture some context – the who, what, where and why;

Who was Jesus asking about before he spoke of the rock?
Himself.
Jesus asked “Who do you say I AM?” and Peter answered “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God, ”

What did he say he would build on the rock?
His church.
Jesus said he would build His church upon that confession, and the Gates of Hell would not prevail against it.

Cesarea Philippi

The Gates of Hell at Caesarea Philippi. The niches in the wall held images of the gods Pan, Echo and Hermes.

Where was he when he said that?
He was at the Gates of Hell.  They were in Caesarea Philippi, a city dominated by immoral activities and pagan worship.  There was a huge rock there, at the southwestern base of Mount Hermon, with a grotto dedicated to the Greek god Pan.  (Pan has horns and hairy legs like a goat).  The locals called it “the Gates of Hell.”

Why did he go there?
Jesus made His declaration at Caesarea Philippi to declare war on the gates of hell.  When Jesus sent out the twelve disciples, he said; “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.” (Matthew 10:34)

He did not mean a sword like Mohammed’s.  The sword he spoke of is the Word of God.  In Isaiah 49:2 we read, “He made my mouth like a sharpened sword”.  When Jesus returns to our world leading the armies of Heaven the sword will be in His mouth. (Revelation 19:15)

The Confession; The Rock; The Church
I recommend the page on this site: http://www.bible.ca/ef/expository-matthew-16-16-18.htm

The Confession

For the question Jesus asked; “Who am I?“, the confession is all important.
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” Romans 10:9-10
In fact, we know that the person who refuses to acknowledge this truth is refusing to be saved! Jesus said, “If you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins.”  John 8:24.

I hope you have made this confession.  They are the most important words you will ever speak.

The Declaration

The declaration is “I will build my church on this rock.”  Jesus did not have the Vatican or any other powerful religious structure in mind when he made that statement.  He is the rock.  Peter is simply named after him.  Jesus is going to shake the world like he shook Hell.
The prophet Daniel had a vision of the end times, where he saw a rock not made by human hands knock the statue representing the final world empire off it’s feet.  The New World Order was broken to pieces and swept away without a trace, but the rock that struck the statue became a huge mountain and filled the whole earth.  Daniel 2:34-35
God said there is no other rock beside him.  He said it twice in Isaiah 44:8 and 45:5;
You are my witnesses. Is there any God besides me?  No, there is no other Rock; I know not one.”

The Church

Ekklesia means “called out ones”, the Church.  It is a nation of priests, of servants, built for faith, called out of darkness, wrested away from the Gates of Hell.
We become part of the Ekklesia when we confess Christ as our Lord.  His Church is built on that confession.
We are fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.  (Ephesians 2:20).
NicolaitansWe were not made to be cogs in the wheel of an authoritarian,  man-made power structure.
Jesus hates that.  He spoke against it twice in his letters to the seven churches;
“But you have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.  Revelation 2:6, letter to the Church at Ephesus.
Likewise, you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.”  Revelation 2:15, letter to the Church at Pergamum.

Who are the Nicolaitans?  ‘Nico’ means rule and ‘laity‘ means clergy.  Get it now?

The devil wants to render us powerless, but consider this; “everyone born of God overcomes the world.” (1 John 5)
Jesus said “whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than John the Baptist.  And then He said, “The Kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.”  Matthew 11:11-12.
They take it by force because they want to take the authority away from God.

Jesus delegates authority – just like He did with the twelve disciples, and He has given the Keys of the Kingdom to His Church, His called out ones.

Within ancient ink there is a living God

2015

Happy New Year!

Before Christmas I wrote about Jesus being the author and finisher of our faith.

I wrote about his nail scarred hands writing and turning the pages of the Bible, the book he inspired.

The day after I wrote about it, this video clip was played at church;
https://skitguys.com/videos/item/study-says-the-writer

I like how it says; “Within ancient ink there is a living God.”

The author and finisher; and the race

Did you know the author of the Bible wrote about a race?

Heb12-prv“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses,
let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.
And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,
fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.”  Hebrews 12:1

We’ve all got a race to run, a race that we were entered in before we were even born.  Think about that!

Do you know the race is on; and the author has got his eye on you?

It’s no ordinary race. Some of you may be already running. You may be the first in your family line to run, or you may be the last.

Sometimes you will run, sometimes you will walk, sometimes you will stumble and fall, and sometimes, you will rise on the wings of an eagle. Those are the best times, when you can stop running, wing it and see what the eagle sees.

I’ll leave you with this verse for the times when you feel discouraged
“Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31

I’ve written about my own race in Chapter 79 The year of inheritance, in case you are interested.  I have referred to myself in the chapter as “the Princess”, but I will be changing her to myself in accordance to the advice I got from Publishers. Anyway, here it is;

A Christmas message

On December 24th, 1968, Apollo 8 made its final pass around the moon and the crew, in turn, sent home this Christmas message:

In the beginning God …

NASA-Apollo8-Dec24-Earthrise

Earthrise

As well as this awesome Christmas message, Apollo 8 also gave the world the most influential environmental photograph ever taken.  It was called “Earthrise”.

Looking at the Earth, the miracle of it all is the one who created this beautiful blue planet came to us as a baby.

Zechariah, the father of John the Baptist, described Jesus as
“the rising sun come to us from heaven
to shine on those living in darkness
and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the path of peace.”
– Zechariah’s Song, paraphrased from Luke 1:76-69

May his light shine on you this Christmas.

But for you who revere my name, the sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in its rays.  Malachi 4:2 (NIV)

Happy Christmas to all of you on this good Earth.

Putting the author in authority

hebrews-12-2I probably won’t be blogging much over the next few weeks.  I’ve tasked myself with getting my story “The Kingdom” into an e-Book while I’ve got a break from work.  I’ve lost the plot and need a lot of guidance and help from God getting it finished.

When I first wrote this story, it didn’t have a plot. I’d simply kept a rough sort of journal made up of individual chapters where I’d kept a record of my spiritual journey with God.  Then I strung them all together and called it “The Kingdom”.  I got a book report back from some Christian Publishers that said the manuscript needed 51 to 250 hours of structural editing.

They did say; “This is a really awesome story with a fabulous blend of unusual elements. It has the potential to wield a strong and powerful impact if the issues of ‘show don’t tell’ are addressed.”

I’m praying about what to change.  I know the Lord understands because He is an author himself.

I started tidying the story up last week.  On Saturday night I added this paragraph to a chapter called “The Kingdom of God Within”;

“The Author and finisher of faith held to his word, his nail scarred hands turning the pages of his living book, a book that is alive and active.   The words and verses contained his breath, his will for creation.
In order for faith to come, people needed to hear him – and hearing came from his word.”

Hebrews_12-2The Lord must have liked it because His authorship of the Bible was the subject of the sermon the next morning (Sunday 7th Dec).

I found out that author and authority share the same root word.

 When Jesus was on earth, He taught with authority, not as the teachers of the law.  You can read that in Mark chapter 1, and in John chapter 1 you can read that Jesus was the LOGOS, the Word of God.

If you want to find out what something in a book means, you go to the author.  He is the authority.

May you look to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.  I sure will be in my attempts at getting the second draft of “The Kingdom” finished.

Kingdom authority

Kingdom AuthorityLaughing I’d sprung up onto the horses back, waiting for my brother to sit behind me.  What a happy day, the day my father bought us the horse; a gleaming chocolate-brown mare called Lady.  I couldn’t wait to learn how to ride her.  Being the eldest I got to sit in front and hold the reins.  Unfortunately the joy didn’t last.

EPSON MFP image

The day we got Lady

The help’s children heard about the horse as soon as their mother got home.  They arrived the next day, all four of them.  I can still see them crossing the creek and running over the paddocks to our place.  I was a timid seven-year old and no match for them.  They were older, aggressive and mean – with a huge sense of entitlement.  The reins were snatched out of my hands as the usurpers helped each other onto her back.  I was left standing by the gate in tears, watching them ride our horse.

It was no good going to my mother.  She had her own problems – bipolar illness and a big family.  The big family wasn’t entirely her fault – after me and my brother were born she had two sets of twin girls.  After the birth of the last set of twins, she was completely unable to cope with us.  I’m not going to go there with the bipolar thing.  All I will say is the day the horse arrived is my only happy memory from that time.

My father hired Miriam, a woman of Samoan/Maori blood to help my mother in the house.  I know we got her and her family the same year as the horse.  I didn’t know Miriam was the help.  I thought she was a friend of my mother and her children were our “friends”, even though they seemed to look down on us.  I foolishly trusted her as an Aunty.  I didn’t know it as a child, but Miriam despised me because in her words “I was always crying”.

There is a proverb which says “A shrewd servant will gain authority over a master’s worthless son and receive a part of the inheritance.” Proverbs 17:2

I went into the house to ask the adults for help.  They told me I had to “share”.  Hearing this and knowing I had no authority as the daughter of the house, Miriam’s children sneered at me and assumed ownership of the horse.  At first I cried and became a victim – but I was a determined little kid.  I wrested control from them after I worked out how to bridle the horse, jump on her back and ride across the paddocks to my grandparent’s place.  I did this until they got the message about who the horse belonged to.

Still I felt worthless and powerless.  I wasn’t allowed to have boundaries.  I lost faith in people and felt I had no one to turn to.  Parents who don’t give their children boundaries send them defenseless into a world full of controlling manipulative people.

So how does this relate to the Kingdom of God?  What would Jesus have done?  He would have put the smallest children on the horse’s back first.  The children of the servant would have had to ask permission to ride.  If we had said yes they would have had to wait their turn.  The Lord is a firm believer in boundaries and treating people with respect.  Boundaries were the first things He helped me construct when He became my King.

https://kingdom777.wordpress.com/2013/09/29/chapter-39-mercy-not-sacrifice/

He gives power to the faint;
and to them that have no might
he increases strength.
Isaiah 40:29.

God will help us in our weakness if we recognise His authority.

Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom.
Matthew 5:3

There was once a powerful man who recognised his own sin and helplessness.  This man, a roman centurion, saw Jesus and recognised His authority;

When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. “Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed, suffering terribly.”  Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?”

The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.  For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.  I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.  But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that moment.”  Matthew 8:9

The Kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.  We haven’t been left as orphans.  Jesus has given us his authority.  We need to know our authority as sons and daughters of the King and walk in it.

I’ll leave you with a clip of some beautiful horses responding to their master’s authority.  These horses were originally bred as “war horses” in the days of knights and armor.  As armor got heavier, bigger horses were needed and the Friesian almost became extinct.  They are back, and are one of the most beautiful horses in stature as well as gait.   These horses are native to the Netherlands.

May you find your joy in the LORD, and may He cause you to ride in triumph on the heights of the land … (Isaiah 58:14).

Run

Called out

Gypsy fairSummer in my home town heralded the arrival of the Gypsy Fair.  They would roll into town and park their colourful house trucks by the river.  I’d wander down there with my children to have a look at the entertainment and goods for sale.  I would look at the crafts, clothes, jewellery and watch the entertainment – but I steered clear of the tarot card reading.

Why?  Fortune telling – isn’t it just a harmless bit of fun?  A friend from a different church took her daughter to have their fortunes told.  “What’s the harm in it?” she said.  There was no way I was going to do that.  Some of you are going to think I’m judgemental.  No, if I had been I wouldn’t have gone to the Gypsy Fair in the first place.  As a Christian I’ve been forbidden to indulge in witchcraft.  Leviticus 19:26 … “Do not practice divination or sorcery.”

Some of you will be thinking the Gypsy Fair is no place for a Christian.  Yes it is, the people need Jesus.  We are commanded to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”  Mark 16:15.  Yes we have to be wise and make the most of an opportunity to witness, because we know the world doesn’t think the gospel is good news.  Bear in mind that preaching doesn’t always have to be done with words.

Where was the Apostle Paul in Acts 17?  He was in Athens, “a city wholly given to idolatry.  Where was Jesus when He revealed himself as the Son of God?  He was in Cesarea Philippi, a city dominated by immoral activities and pagan worship, a place dedicated to the Greek god Pan.  The locals called it “the Gates of Hell.”

“When Jesus brought his disciples to the area, they must have been shocked. Caesarea Philippi was like a red-light district in their world and devout Jews would have avoided any contact with the despicable acts committed there.  It was a city of people eagerly knocking on the doors of hell.  Jesus presented a clear challenge with his words at Caesarea Philippi: He didn’t want his followers hiding from evil: He wanted them to storm the gates of hell.”   Source: http://www.followtherabbi.com/journey/israel/gates-of-hell/

At the Gates of Hell, Jesus asked “Who am I?”  Peter answered “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”  Jesus replied “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.  And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hell will not overcome it.”  (Matthew 16).

The rock that Jesus declared He would build His Church on is the rock at the gates of Hell and the truth that He is the Messiah, the Son of God.  The rock is not the Pope!

He will be a spirit of justice to the one who sits in judgement,
a source of strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.
Isaiah 28:6.

PointI know that the fortune tellers at the Gypsy Fair sometimes got hassled by Christians.  They would be told they were evil and ruled by the devil.  http://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/6224095/Tarot-cards-tell-a-story.

I didn’t agree with that.  In my opinion it would just drive them further away from the Lord.  My husband says that if you point the finger at someone there’s always three fingers pointed back at you.

The Pagans are trying to access the spiritual Kingdom without submitting to the Lord.  How many of us have done that until we’ve learned to obey God?  “For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry.”  (1 Samuel 15:23) To approach God, truth is the cost of entry.  I chose to walk past and leave them in peace, silently praying for them to come to know the truth so they would turn away from witchcraft.

At the Gypsy Fair you could look through the house trucks for a gold coin donation.  The homes were all interesting and alternative, just what you would expect from Gypsies.  One house truck I stepped into was remarkable in how different the atmosphere was.  Jesus was there.  His music played softly in the cabin.  Bible tracts were scattered throughout the room for people to take.  Imagine that.  I was surprised to say the least.  As the house truck owner handed me a tract, I asked him what they were doing in a New Age, Pagan, alternative community?  He said it was their ministry.  God had called them into it.

I was glad to see them being Jesus to a community that I knew God cared about.  They were being the Church to a community that needed them.   I’ve never forgotten the lesson I learned that day from the travellers.Ekklesia

What do you think when you hear the word Ekklesia?  I used to think it meant religion and priests wearing robes.  Ekklesia are people called out from the world and to God, the outcome being the Church – the universal body of believers called out from the world and into His eternal kingdom.  Source:http://biblehub.com/greek/1577.htm

Here is a brilliant whiteboard demonstration of the role of the Ekklesia and the Kingdom of God;

A guest to the Blog named “Victory Truth” left a comment that inspired me;
“A pastor/friend once said we are a ministry of ministers, so if the church treats all of their members as equal then the community recognize the difference too. instead of Sheeple, they see a holy nation / a peculiar people. The leaves of THIS tree will heal nations! pray We can let our destiny become bigger than ourselves.”

People of the King, it’s time for us to remember who we are.
We are all in Ministry.
We are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that we may declare the praises of him who called us out of darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9)
We are the Church, called out of darkness into glorious light.  We are the Church, let us turn back the battle at the gate. We are the Church, and the gates of Hell will not prevail against us.

Signs in the heavens, October 2014

Lunar_Eclipse_Masterton_1After playing cards on Wednesday night I stopped to look up at the lunar eclipse.  It was a chilly spring night on the 8th October 2014.  The full moon was out, unobscured by the clouds which had blocked the first blood moon of the 15th April.

Lunar eclipses are common, but a Tetrad where there are four lunar eclipses in a row is not.  This Tetrad is even more unusual because there is a solar eclipse in the mix.  When the last Tetrad occurred in 1967 Israel had the Six Day war.  Israel considers blood moons to be an omen of war and when there is a solar eclipse it’s an omen of war for the other 70 nations.   Jesus did say that prior to His return there would be wars and rumours of wars.

As the moon slowly moved into the Earth’s shadow creating a spooky sight I wondered what constellation the sun was in.  I opened “Stellarium” on my laptop, a free planetarium program which is great for star-gazing.

8-10-14 Blood Moon

Virgo, 8th October 2014, night of second blood moon of the Tetrad.

The sun was on Virgo’s arm, as she held a branch in her hand.  Virgo is a significant sign.  The prophet Isaiah stared 700 years into the future and gave Ahaz king of Judah a prophecy involving a virgin and Son.

Ahaz the King of Judah was at war.  Isaiah said; “Ask a sign for yourself from your God; ask it either in the depth or in the height above.”
But Ahaz said, “I will not ask, nor will I test the Lord.”  Then Isaiah said, “Hear now, O house of David! Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will you weary my God also? Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.”

Immanuel means “God with us”. We know that Virgo means the virgin, but the meaning of the constellations was lost in Babylon. Virgo holds a branch in her left hand, and an ear of corn in the other.  The brightest star in Virgo is Spica.  Spica has an ancient name, handed down to us in all the star-maps. It is called in Arabic Al Zimach, which means the BRANCH.  What was the meaning of the branch?  The BRANCH was the title of a servant of God who would come to remove the sin of this land.

“Listen, High Priest Joshua, you and your associates seated before you, who are men symbolic of things to come: I am going to bring my servant, the Branch. See, the stone I have set in front of Joshua! There are seven eyes on that one stone, and I will engrave an inscription on it,’ says the Lord Almighty, ‘and I will remove the sin of this land in a single day.”  Zechariah 3:8-10.

The stone in Zechariah’s prophecy represents Jesus, and the seven eyes represent angels and churches.

The ear of corn in Virgo’s hand represents a harvest.  When Jesus was on Earth, He went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.  When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.  Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.  Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”  Matthew 9:35.

2migiddo-church-7I moved my attention to the moon, which was now a rusty shade of red.  The moon was in Pisces.   The sign of PISCES means “Their blessings in abeyance” (temporary cessation or suspension).  The three constellations in PISCES are;

  1. THE BAND–bound, but binding their great enemy Cetus, the sea monster.  (The beast up out of the sea in Revelation 13).
  1. ANDROMEDA (The Chained Woman). The Redeemed in their bondage and affliction.
  1. CEPHEUS (The King). Their Redeemer coming to rule. The brightest star is called Al Deramin, which means coming quickly. The next is named Al Phirk (Arabic), the Redeemer.

Jesus said “Behold I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.” Revelation 12:13-14.

What did he mean, coming quickly?  It’s been 2000 years.  The Lord has no sense of time! “But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”  2 peter 3:8-9.

The prophet Daniel said; “The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed.” Daniel 9:26. Coming like a flood means events will speed up.

Besides the blood moon, there were two lots of meteor showers in the northern hemisphere; October 5th-6th the Camelopardalids and October 6th-9th the Draconids (from Draco).

This blood moon happened on the Jewish feast of Sukkot, which means “the in-gathering”.

Lulav

Sukkot celebrates the harvest.  It is called The Feast of Tabernacles. It will be a time for the survivors of the nations to bow before the King (Zechariah 14:16).  After the crops were gathered from the land God commanded a festival, where the Israelites were to take a bundle of branches from four different trees;
“On the first day, you must take for yourself a fruit of the citron tree, an unopened palm frond (lulav), myrtle branches, and willows [that grow near] the brook. You shall rejoice before God for seven days.”  Leviticus 23:40

It was called “Lulav”.  Is it a coincidence that the children of Israel are waving branches at Sukkot?  I don’t think so.

Jesus was familiar with the day.  In John 7 Jesus did not go to the Festival of Tabernacles at first.  Jesus said to his brothers “You go to the festival. I am not going up to this festival, because my time has not yet fully come.”
After he had said this, he stayed in Galilee. However, after his brothers had left for the festival, he went also, not publicly, but in secret.
Jesus has not yet fulfilled this Feast but the day is coming when He will.  http://kswptim.wordpress.com/page/3/

A future sign in the heavens

I study the signs because it helps me understand the scriptures.  God is still using the signs of the heavens in His word.  For instance, in Revelation 12; “A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth.

Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads. Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born. She gave birth to a son, a male child, who “will rule all the nations with an iron scepter. And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne.” Revelation 12-6

The word for “snatched up” means “Harpazo”.  Harpazo is defined as seize by force; snatch up, suddenly and decisively – like someone seizing bounty (spoil, a prize); to take by an open display of force (i.e. not covertly or secretly).
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18).

This is what is meant by the Rapture.  I don’t know when this will be, before the Tribulation or during.  For the persecuted Church, the Tribulation has already begun.  What will be happening in the heavens when this sign appears?

The Lord expects His Church to be like the sons of Issachar, men who understood the times.  It is really important now, because just like in Jesus’s day, people are feeling harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

I am here at your service.  I know my Bible, I have a gift of discernment, and I learn as much as I can about what I see.  A useful book is one called “The Witness of the Stars”, written by EW Bullinger in 1893.  He’s not going to mind if you download it for free.

If you don’t know God, I hope you can see there is a lot more to Him and the Bible than you may have been led to believe.  I have a heart for people to know God and take Him at His word.   If you have any questions I will do my best to answer them.
