At the end of the Tribulation the earth is reeling and swathed in darkness. The sun and moon are blotted out and there are no stars. The remnant have seen the sign of the Son of Man on a sky as black as ink. And more people have disappeared.
They disappeared the same way as they did three and a half years ago when the Antichrist took over the temple in Jerusalem. One minute they were there and the next they were gone.
Those seeing the sign of the Son of Man mourn because everything the Bible, the Two Witnesses, the 144,000 evangelists and the three angels said turned out to be true.
It’s the end and they cannot repent. The Mark of the Beast has made them God’s enemies. They worshipped the beast and his technological marvels. They were at one with the beast and inhabited a world where Jesus wasn’t welcome. No-one was safe around them except others like them.
Now it’s their turn to be taken, but it won’t be to Heaven. This is the grape harvest, a harvest of wrath and these are the grapes of wrath.
Then another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle. And another angel came out from the altar, who had power over fire, and he cried with a loud cry to him who had the sharp sickle, saying, “Thrust in your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth, for her grapes are fully ripe.” Revelation 14:17-18
Again one will be taken and one will be left; I tell you, in that night there will be two men in one bed: the one will be taken and the other will be left. Two women will be grinding together: the one will be taken and the other left. Two men will be in the field: the one will be taken and the other left.
And they answered and said to Him, “Where, Lord?”
So He said to them, “Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together.” Luke 17:34-37
The wicked and those who have the Mark of the Beast will be taken to a place just outside the old city of Jerusalem. It’s called “The Winepress.”
So the angel thrust his sickle into the earth and gathered the vine of the earth, and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. And the winepress was trampled outside the city, and blood came out of the winepress, up to the horses’ bridles, for one thousand six hundred furlongs. Revelation 14:19-20
Jesus will do the trampling. But first He will take his rest while the angels do the harvesting; ‘For so the Lord said to me, “I will take My rest, and I will look from My dwelling place like clear heat in sunshine, Like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.’
For before the harvest, when the bud is perfect and the sour grape is ripening in the flower,
He will both cut off the sprigs with pruning hooks and take away and cut down the branches.
They will be left together for the mountain birds of prey and for the beasts of the earth;
The birds of prey will summer on them, And all the beasts of the earth will winter on them.
The blood will run at a depth of five feet for 200 miles and it’s going to go all the way down to the Red Sea; “The earth shakes at the noise of their fall; At the cry its noise is heard at the Red Sea.” Jeremiah 49:21
The Avenger of Blood
The Winepress is something Jesus will do alone.
The prophet Isaiah asked: “Why is Your apparel red, and Your garments like one who treads in the winepress?”
The LORD said, “I have trodden the winepress alone, and from the peoples, no one was with Me. For I have trodden them in My anger, and trampled them in My fury; Their blood is sprinkled upon My garments, And I have stained all My robes.
For the day of vengeance is in My heart, and the year of My redeemed has come. I looked, but there was no one to help, and I wondered that there was no one to uphold; Therefore My own arm brought salvation for Me; And My own fury, it sustained Me. I have trodden down the peoples in My anger, made them drunk in My fury, and brought down their strength to the earth.” Isaiah 63:1-6
Reaping the Whirlwind
The wheat has gone and all that’s left are tares. The tares looked like wheat, they bowed to the wind but they had no goodness in them.
Have you ever heard the phrase about reaping the whirlwind? It’s in connection with the tares; They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind. The stalk has no head; it will produce no flour. Hosea 8:7
The wheat and the tares were allowed to grow together until the harvest; “Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.” Matthew 13:30
The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from among the just, and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Matthew 13:47-50.
The slain of the Lord shall be from one end of the earth to the other. The prophet Jeremiah wrote about the disaster that shall go forth from nation to nation – starting from the farthest parts of the earth where a great whirlwind will be raised up;
The Lord will roar from on high, and utter His voice from His holy habitation; He will roar mightily against His fold. He will give a shout, as those who tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.
A noise will come to the ends of the earth—for the Lord has a controversy with the nations; He will plead His case with all flesh. He will give those who are wicked to the sword,’ says the Lord.
Thus says the Lord of hosts: Behold, disaster shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the farthest parts of the earth. And on that day the slain of the Lord shall be from one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth. They shall not be lamented, or gathered, or buried; they shall become refuse on the ground. Jeremiah 25:31-33
The river of blood: The distance of one thousand six hundred furlongs or 1600 stadia is 200 miles, or 322 kilometres and a horse of sixteen hands is about five feet tall.
